Among the basic economic needs of the Iranian people, textile ranks third after food and shelter. This industry includes 4% of added industrial value and 10% of the total export of Iran’s industry.
According to the available statistics in 2017, the turnover of the textile sector in Iran was twelve billion dollars. 30% of this amount is related to clothing made in Turkey and imported either officially or smuggled. In fact, in general, the import of goods from Turkey to Iran is about three billion dollars, of which about one billion dollars includes clothes alone. In this way, if Turkey’s trade vision with Iran is realized in 2023, this country will be able to devote 16 billion of its annual export volume to clothing alone.
The textile industry is one of the most important and oldest industries that plays an effective role in the economic development of a country and its employment generation. In this industry, Iran has also been able to play a significant role in the improvement of the country’s economy, so that in 2017, the income from this industry was about 12 billion dollars.
