Pipe granules or pipes, which are usually made of polyethylene (in polyethylene pipes), are black pipes obtained by extruding polyethylene grade EX3 in grades PE100, PE80, PE63. These pipes are produced in sizes from 1.2 inches to 110 mm and in coils of 100 meters in sizes from 125 to 2400 mm. Today, the PE63 grade is almost obsolete, and instead of it, two grades, PE100 and PE80, which are both more resistant and more economical in terms of weight and price, are available in the market.
The polyethylene material that is used to produce pipe granules is completely different from the type of polyethylene material that is used to produce other polyethylene products.

General types of pipe granules

Granule pipes or polyethylene pipes are black pipes that are used with blue lines (for water supply), yellow line for (gas supply) and brown line (for sewage). When dividing, they are usually divided into three groups of single-walled pipes (abbreviated as polyethylene pipe), double-walled (known as Carugate pipe) and spiral. But this category is very general.

1- Single-wall tube granule

These pipes are divided into several sections with different uses:

  • Black 100 polyethylene (PE) pipe
  • Blue 100 polyethylene pipe
  • Orange 100 polyethylene pipe
  • Polyethylene pipe E.3490-LS
  • P6006 polyethylene pipe
  • Black NPP polyethylene pipe

2- double-walled tube granule

This model is used to transfer sewage and fluids without internal pressure. The double-walled polyethylene pipe is often called the Carrogate pipe, the production technology of which is the same as the single-walled pipe, and the only difference is the extrusion.

3- Spiral

It is the same type as carogate, but the production method is slightly different, so that they usually include sizes from 800 to 3000 mm.

Types of pipe granules based on density

Polyethylene pipes are divided into three main groups based on the density of the materials used:

  • High density polyethylene pipe (HDPE)

The density of this type of polyethylene pipe is 0.941 grams per cubic centimeter or more and its natural color is white. Among the features of this model, the following can be mentioned. The features of HDPE have made this type of pipe very suitable for water transmission systems and pressurized systems. The hardness and strength of HDPE is greater than LDPE and therefore it can better withstand water pressure.

  • Medium density polyethylene pipe (MDPE)

The density of the material in this type of polyethylene pipe is between 0.926 and 0.940 grams per cubic centimeter and its natural color is blue. MDPE is the least used among all types of polyethylene pipes.

  • Low density polyethylene pipe (LDPE)

The density of the material in this type of polyethylene pipe is less than 0.926 grams per cubic centimeter. The most common application of LDPE polyethylene pipe is in drip irrigation systems.

Advantages of pipe granules

In general, the advantages of these pipes can be mentioned as follows:

  • Easy connection
  • High strength, no leakage and at the same time high flexibility
  • High resistance to temperature changes
  • Excellent resistance to earthquakes and landslides
  • Resistance to corrosion, and against the ultraviolet rays of the sun
  • Resistance to rodents, termites and microorganisms
  • Low cost of repairs and maintenance
  • Compatibility of the product with different temperatures
  • The production of pipes based on the expected working pressure and the production of pipes based on the required lifespan are among the advantages of HDPE pipes.

Applications of pipe granules

These pipes are used to transfer fluids from a source to a specific destination.Due to their unique characteristics, polyethylene pipes have very wide applications in transferring fluids in large and small projects. These pipes are the most ideal option for urban and rural water transmission system, urban and industrial sewage, gas transmission pipe, cable coating, fire fighting and fire extinguishing pipes and the best choice for sea water transmission and other applications in salty waters. is
Among its other applications, we can refer to drainage networks, irrigation networks under pressure, ventilation channels, covering metal layers.

Production of granular pipes, pipes, pipes

Granule pipe is one of the most widely used types of consumer pipes, and one of the most widely used types is high density polyethylene (HDPE) in HDPE100 and HDPE80 grades. This type of pipe is produced by Arak, Amirkiber, Maron, Jam and Ilam Petrochemicals.
Maron Petrochemical has produced this pipe as a gas supply pipe with a pressure tolerance of 100 bar, which can use EX-3 grade instead of PE100, PE80. In Ilam Petrochemical, EX-3 grade is used only as a substitute for PE80, and in Amir Kabir Petrochemical, EX-3 is used as a substitute for PE100 and PE80.
In Arak Petrochemical, the PE100 grade polyethylene pipe is black in color and can withstand up to 100 bar pressure in gas pipes, and finally, Jam Petrochemical uses black CRP-100 polyethylene pipe, which is a polyethylene thermoplastic polymer, in the pipe. It uses high pressure water and gas.

Factors affecting the price of pipe granules

Today, the daily price of this pipe is not stable due to the currency and economic conditions and it is different every day, but in general, the main factors of the price of this pipe depend on the amount of demand, the type of working pressure and the price of polyethylene materials used in each It depends on the day.

The formula for calculating the daily price of pipe granules

The amount of materials used in each meter of pipe times the daily price of raw materials (PET100, PET80) + production overhead costs + profit of the manufacturer (about 20%) + transportation costs from the factory to the project site.
